Darcy’s Equine Assisted Learning CIC
Darcy’s is a not for profit organisation based in Chapelton, South Lanarkshire which is only 9 miles from Glasgow.

Owner, Eileen Mathieson has a qualification in social care and has been a foster carer for many years. She is an EAQ Certified Facilitator and is currently continuing her professional development by working towards the new Level 4 Certificate in Facilitating Equine Assisted Learning. Eileen is supported by Georgia, Gill and Anne who have all completed their specialist EAQ training.

The horses live out in the Scottish hillside and there is a commitment to an outdoor, herd-based approach to horse care. There are other animals too, including chickens, sheep and dogs.  Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each individual and can be arranged on days and at times to suit you, including Saturdays. Courses run during term-time and in the holidays. There is no riding involved.

Sessions need to be booked in advance and can be organised on a one-to-one or small group basis. Staff will help you to plan the length and number of sessions and understand that everyone is different.  There are lots of activities involving the horses, from approaching one in a field to grooming and leading. You might also be able to take part in painting, collage, 3D modelling or preparing food for yourself or the horses!

Specialisms:
The centre specialises in working with children and young people, those who are looked-after, particularly those who have social, emotional, communication or behavioural difficulties.

Accreditations:
Darcy's is able to offer qualifications in employability, animal husbandry and animal handling through EAQ’s external accreditations with SQA, IiP and OCNLR.
